Clucks&Moos.com Web Design Concept

Project: Children's Web Site Design

Design Solution: I tried to integrate the navigation into the design in a creative and cohesive way with the speech bubbles and the sign. I also tried to keep the design unified by using curvilinear shapes and edges for all of the pieces of the design.

Potential Improvement: I would have liked to try and use gradients in the animals and the barn so that they would line up more with the background that I created.

Literary Illustration

Project: Literary Illustration

Passage from: Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

Design Solution: I chose to illustrate the different emotions that were going through Elizabeth Bennett's head when she was proposed to be by Mr. Darcy. I wanted to keep a red palette, because red conveys intense emotion, and the shades and tints of the red varied based on the depth/strength of the language used to convey the emotions Elizabeth felt. The width of the red stripes also varied based on the intensity of the emotion.

This book puts an interesting spin on the original story of Pride and Prejudice. The Bennett sisters are proficient in oriental style fighting skills, and I tried to put a bit of an oriental flavor into the piece by making her face look like it has been painted white as that of a geisha.

Potential Improvements: I would have liked to have more time to work on a different background, but I spent the majority of my time figuring out the shape of the silhouette.

Photorealism

Project: Create a photo-realistic image of a photographed product.

Product: Dove Soap

Design Solution: I had difficulty creating the dove logo imprint on the soap. Eventually I ended up using several blends to accomplish the desired effect.

Potential Improvement:
I would eventually like to adjust the text on the soap box. I didn't get it to fit exactly, and could use some improvement.

Stylistic Self-Portrait

Project: Create a self-portrait using a style from art history.

Art Style: Pop Art, specifically Roy Lichtenstein

Design Solution: The primary challenge that this project presented was mastering the hair details. I chose to make a basic outline of the hair on the computer, print it out, draw the details in by hand, scan it back into the computer, and trace it with the pen tool. I found that this process was much more successful than trying to free-hand in Illustrator.

Room for Improvement: Overall, I'm pleased with the results of this project, however, more detail could have been added to the cell phone, as well as the hair.
